Most young women believe that young men don’t make relationships a priority. Maybe these guys just don’t want to settle down.
Are they right? Do men rather play the field? Where do the priorities of young men lie these days?
My friend David, a 22-year-old from San Jose, California, is in relationship. Yet his main priority is his internship. He said it was important for when he entered the “real world.” Finding work is his priority right now even though he’s in a relationship. How does his girlfriend feel about this?
“I’m already in a pretty secure relationship so, I mean, it’s not something I need to worry about since its already kind of said and done”.
Jacob, however, has a one-track mind. The 21-year old living in beautiful San Rafael, California wants to finish school and “enjoy his youth.” What does that mean exactly?
“You know, trying new things, going with the flow,” he replied with a chuckle. “I don’t want to feel too obligated to things right now.”
Jacob is willing to let things happen naturally, but many women don’t have this type of freedom due to biological clocks. Women are pressured to settle down earlier in life while men are pressured to work, make money, and be providers. Like A.J., a 20-year-old from Whittier, who either wants to find a high paying job in the stock market, or start his own business. Why does his career trump being in a relationship? He believes women are more inclined to desire successful men.
Victor is also focused on his career. The 23-year-old resides in Long Beach, California and believes that staying dedicated to his job is the most important thing in his life.
“It’s difficult to focus on much else,” he admitted. He is waiting to settle down when he is successful.
It makes sense. Men are raised to be career-focused. Men in their 20′s are still growing and building for their future. So, ladies, it seems that to be with a 20-something may mean to be second best.
